Philippus Aureolus Paracelsus was born in Einsiedeln, Switzerland on the 10th November, 1493. He was a Swiss doctor and alchemist (medieval doctor) commonly praised with founding medieval chemistry. He also was the first physician to correctly diagnose a number of serious illnesses including tuberculosis (disease of lungs). My ancestor had many achievements during the Renaissance Period. Some of these included: oA doctorate in medicine from the University of Ferrara in 1515 oHe was an army physician in Denmark from 1518 to 1521 oParacelsus also wrote books about medicine, surgery, and cosmology (the nature of the universe). oHe tried to heal the sick that had caught the plague. oHe helped the poor and needy in the cities

ur world today in several ways. His life achievements were mainly advances in medicine. He did this by establishing the chemistry branch of medicine and its uses. He also published “Der grossenWundartzney” (Great Surgery Book) in 1536 allowing people to gain an understanding of surgery without using experience. It was also the most prominent surgery book at the time. In his medical study he created clinical descriptions of many deadly diseases such as syphilis.
